Our Story

Hello all! Welcome to Birdie’s Devine Delights! My name is Roberta Standen, but many of you know me as Birdie! I grew up in Rainier and have strong roots here with my husband Donald. I’m glad I can share my passion for baking with my small-town community and those who pass through it. My passion for baking began over 18 years ago, when I made a sheet cake for a baby shower. Someone asked me “are you making cakes now?”……..and the rest is history. I am blessed to be able to share my love for baking with so many friends and family all these years. Thanks to all the support and words of encouragement, I get to take the leap and grow my business to reach more people in our community and beyond! My personal touches on your customized orders for cakes, cookies, and cupcakes give me true purpose in this industry! My attention to detail will ensure that you get what you envision! Cakes, cookies and decadent treats for all occasions!

FAQ's

Q: How much are your cookies? A: Please see the products tab above. Q: How much notice do I need to give for ordering cookies? A: For custom cookies, I typically book three months at a time. I do need a minimum of two weeks’ notice for custom cookie orders. For custom orders requested after the two-week notice time period, there will be a 25% rush fee if I have availability. Q: How much notice do I need to give for ordering a cake? A: For a Wedding cake I typically book 6 months in advance & require a 50% deposit of a quoted amount to hold your date on my calendar. With payment in full two weeks prior to pickup/delivery date. Birthday-themed cakes I book two weeks in advance, and a simple cake with a simple edge border design require a week’s notice. Birthday-themed cakes require a 50% non-refundable deposit & simple cakes require a 25% non-refundable deposit. Q: Can I place a cookie order if I do not know my theme yet? A: Yes! You can have your date held on my calendar if you do not know your cookie theme for a $20 nonrefundable deposit. Your remaining balance will then be paid once your theme has been chosen, no later the 2 weeks prior to your pickup time. PLEASE NOTE that I am unable to give exact price quotes without knowing the theme and/or designs of your cookies. Q: Do you offer refunds? A: I am unable to refund and cancel your cookie order up to 14 business days prior to your pickup date. No refunds will be given for cookies that have already been made, this includes holiday cookies. Any holiday cookies that are left 24 hours after the pickup times have ended, will be forfeited with NO REFUND unless other arrangements gave been made with me. Q: Can you provide nut-free or gluten free options? A: Unfortunately, I cannot at this time. Q: Can you ship your cookies? A: My cookies are for pickup only. It is illegal for me to ship my cookies. Q: Do you deliver? A: Yes, with a delivery charge. Q: When is payment due? A: Payment is due within 48 hours of your order being received. Cookie & cake orders are not booked until they are paid in full, for cookie orders I have a $20 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit until the theme has been decided (the theme must be decided two weeks prior to the pickup date). For very large orders I require a non-refundable deposit to hold the date. Q: Do you offer cake tasting? A: Yes! Appointments are by availability. Sit down & sample up to six cake flavors, 3 fillings & 3 frostings. The cost is $45 per couple. Please give a minimum of 48 hours' notice. Q: Can I freeze your cookies? A: Yes! Royal Icing cookies freeze very well! Often times people will freeze the cookies if I am unavailable for the exact date they’d like. To freeze the cookies you will carefully place them in a tub or Ziploc bag (if using a ziplock bag I recommend putting the Ziploc bag on a cookie sheet for stability). Rather than stacking them on top of one another, try stacking them on their sides. If your cookies are packaged in a box you can simply leave them in there and put the box in the freezer. You will then take them out of the freezer the night before you will be needing them. DO NOT open the container or Ziploc until the cookies are completely thawed. This is the most important step, opening the container may cause condensation and will ruin the cookies.
